transition.
Singapore is southeast asia's wealthiest country.
Singapore has a stable and far-sighted government.
Singapore has a hardworking and intelligent people.
and Singapore has a new Prime Minister,
Mr. Lee Hsien Loong.
the official handover of power went on at the Istana two hours ago, and Mr. Goh Chok Tong is now Senior Minister of Singapore. there was a large crowd of 1400 people, and the ceremony was smooth. everything was orderly and went according to plan.
the handover has been deemed by the local press as a favourable transition of power, and "the ruling People's Action Party's members of parliament were unanimous in their choice of Mr Lee Hsien Loong as Mr Goh's successor." also, "Mr Lee has also been unanimously endorsed by the PAP Central Executive Committee as the new Prime Minister."
congratulations Mr. Lee!
i was heartened by the reports about PM Lee's favour with the Government and the people of Singapore. and as reported, Singaporeans are happy with the new Cabinet and Government. however, the world stage seems to be telling a different story. i was just browsing CNN.com, and its report on the handover was entitled "Dynasty returns to Singapore helm". sigh. go compare the differences.
whatever it is, i do believe in the foresight of the new Prime Minister and the Government.
all the best to you and the future of Singapore!
