please grow up.
so what's the deal about jerry ong?
apparently, this finalist from the (in)famous talent search show,
singapore idol has been greatly reviled because he has managed to garner votes which render popular finalists like jessea thyidor, beverly morata & david yeo to be eliminated from the competition.
firstly, kindly note that the finalists are determined by YOU. yes, YOU. why so? because as much as some of you dislike jerry ong's continual presence on the show, you
didn't vote for your so-called 'favourite' idols very much (or at all), did you? even as you'd like voters to bypass jerry ong, you didn't make the effort to keep
your idols on the competition. this show is largely based on the viewers', which means your, decision. and you decided that jerry is considerably bad, but you too decided
not to vote. so stop complaining.
because
singapore idol is a show which respects the viewers' choice(s), and thus the judges' opinions do not carry any weight in the finals. don't whine about how they should change the rules and regulations, you should switch channels if you don't like the format of a show. the competition is all about the home viewers. therefore, the logical explanation for a contestant to get people to vote for him/her would be:
1. he/she sings well.
2. the voter knows he/she.
3. pity votes.
4. i'm voting
just for fun.
now can you possibly blame any one for having more friends or supporters? think about it: in your lifetime, you make friends and acquaintances every other day, and so if your friends and fan base widen, naturally you will have more votes than others, which is what happened to jerry. and by the way, so what if his churchmates and friends do vote for him? it's your own choice whether you go to church isn't it? and similarly, it's the choice of his friends and their subsequent votes which matter in this competition. jessea was marvellous, beverly was improving, david yeo was good but had a wrong choice of song. so, how is it in
any way a contestant's fault that people
want to and
have the ability to vote for their favourite contestant?
and please, don't be silly and start ranting about how the viewer has every right to comment on anyone on tv, since this is a democratic nation and free-to-air television. because as much as you
have the tongue to speak those words, it's your own downfall if you lack tact and mercy in your speech. i really don't think you would like it if you were in jerry's shoes, having to put up with the nonsense of infantile couch potatoes. oh no, you
wouldn't like it. so there.
give the poor guy a break, will ya? at the very least he can stand tall and know that he did try to fulfill his dreams. there are some with dreams but daren't do anything to achieve them. he's got the courage and willpower many don't, you've got to give him that.
this is my take on and response to the vile comments circulating in the online community. it's not that i'm siding with jerry or thinks he sings particularly well, but i don't take to unfair and lewd remarks towards others either. that's just the way it is: your vote counts.
i applaud his confidence. and i applaud your wisdom if you choose to remain objective.
