a close to a wonderful weekend.it's the time of the year when people fall prey to the flu bug.
and I have, too. which makes me rather melancholy, even though I get to be at home on a monday night. because all the others are on their way down to East Coast Parkway, taking part in the 24KM route march. and I'm gonna miss it.
for all who're reading this:
do take good care of your health! and for the record, if you're sick, you're sick. see a doctor or get some rest. it's ridiculous saying you will never be sick. Kenneth Copeland knows what I mean.
I've had fun, especially Saturday. thanks A, S & H. it's been marvellous.
so it seems Singaporeans won't get to vote in this year's presidential elections. quoting
DPM Dr. Tony Tan, "Mr Nathan's reappointment would provide continuity which would be good for Singapore." well, I've got to agree. our incumbent President has done a good job, things are pretty much in order, and no one's complaining. still, it's mildly perturbing, more in an interesting way, that Singaporeans haven't had the chance to vote in 13 years, a point brought up by Selena Tan in
Dim Sum Dollies - Singapore's Most Wanted! and I found
this report quite amusing.
now about the DSD, a good number of those who've watched it say that "last year's was better." well, I wouldn't totally agree. we're focusing on a small island and its issues here, and you've got to admit, even the best playwright would run out of ideas after three shows already. which didn't make me too surprised when the issues discussed had more to do with the grumblings of the heartlander than anything else. I applaud the DSD for a remarkable performance, the theatrical nuances and innuendos were more than splendid. you pay for a good laugh, and you've had got more than that. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and that's what entertainment is all about. to me, they're ever as beautiful and talented.
it was brought to my attention about a certain preacher claiming that his teachings are divine and in accordance to the will of God, just because
chimes started playing at a particular period of one of his messages. to be honest, (and understand that this is
not to put anyone down, not at all) it is incredibly
flaky and pagan to even suggest that God has to reply on theatricality to support His Gospel. The Bible says that God's Word is Truth, and the Truth will set you free. I don't see how Truth is made truer or factual by the accompaniment of the playing of a musical instrument. let's not mix up spirituality with religious hype. chimes playing by themselves anywhere else and at any other time would invoke fear and incredulity, not a message of holiness. just because something seems inhuman, doesn't mean it is God-like. you can be extraordinary, or just plain weird.
and so it's back to camp for now, looking forward to another exciting weekend.
