For One More DayA perfect night
That day of spring
The month of May
With love to stay
Life's best gift yet
With its promise of provision and joy
When Fate came
And took my breath away
I still recall that river walk
With ardent wishes it would never end
The presence, the warmth
The simple bliss of joy and song
And then there was that sleepy night
Of ocean's calm and healing tune
Sparkling gaze under starry sky
Merged hands, joined hearts
Till death do us part
The times of strife
And sometimes pain
Could not remove
Love's enduring stain
The melody of the heart
Brought life, brought joy, brought love everlasting more
Anthems composed, the songs conjured
All brought a sense of endless worth
Then came the crunch
The tears tore through it all
A world stood in silence
Streams of grief marking the fall
The anguish, the pain
The torment, the shame
But no one meant for anything like this at all
A heart that bleeds
With an endless sting
Can you feel the wretched agony?
But still one waits
With a pleading strain
Hoping with all heart that's left
Found wanting and nothing more
Nor can this wait
Obliterate
The memories
Or Love's passion fade
Till the end of light and life
And the eyes see no more
And so the wait continues
Yea, for one more day...
